It's so easy to go through life without appreciation, despite the whole vibrating, pulsing, glowing gloriousness of the world around us. I am embarking on a daily practice of noticing and sharing beauty: one small effort to counteract the laziness of obliviousness, dismissal, and cynicism that can gradually sour our outlook on just about everything.

I get the Dürer reference. Oddly enough, I am drawn more to the smaller image because of the lack of detail. Then again, the foreground detail in the larger image has great appeal. It is the detail of the background, particularly the trees above the cliff, that I find troubling. The rest of the photo is very painterly; the detail on the ridge is photographic. I guess I find it a bit texturally discontinuous.
Even so, man o man, it's a beautiful image.
